Trunk or Treat

For Halloween this year I decided to make mine and Curtis' costumes revolve around Nathan's. As you already know, Nathan was a monkey (which turned out to look more like a bear since his tail fell off and got lost). Since I knew I would be carrying my little monkey around all night at the church's Trunk-or-Treat party, I decided to be a tree. This is the best picture I was able to get. I took it in the mirror as I was heading out the door. (Most people thought I was Mother Earth and Nathan was a Bear).

I considered adding a green wig to the costume, but after I put it on I quickly remembered exactly why I don't have short hair.

Curtis, unfortunately, got to the trunk-or-treat just in time to see everyone cleaning up. We must have missed each other on the road as I was leaving and he was coming. However, we did make sure to snap a couple pictures once he got home.

This will probably conclude our Halloween festivities for the year. I will most likely spend the night sitting at home trying not to eat all the candy that is meant for the trick-or-treaters while Curtis has another 12 hour or more day at work. Party!

Sweet Victory!!

When Curtis and I were engaged I went to DI almost every day for weeks to find a set of couches for us. I was lucky enough to one day stumble upon a decent couch and love seat for only $45, however they were nowhere near my dream couches. Those couches have been good to us for about 2 years, however, around June they decided that they had had enough. It seemed like every time I looked there was a new rip in the cushions.

(the bottoms of all the cushions have rips too, this is the best way to arrange the cushions in order to show the least amount of taring)

So in July I started shopping around for new couches. I finally fell in love with this amazing two tone sectional. It had everything that both Curtis and I wanted. It had a hide-a-bed, it reclined, it had a removable corner wedge so that it could be just a couch and love seat, it was deep enough for Curtis but not too deep for me....it was perfect! Well, almost perfect, the only thing that didn't work for us was the $1600 price tag. I decided to look at every furniture store I could find, including online stores to find a better price for the sectional. I was disappointed to see that $1600 was a ridiculously good price for this sectional, I wasn't able to find another price under $2000. So, sadly, Curtis and I decided that we could not afford $1600 couches at this point in time. However, our old couches HAD to be replaced. Slip covers were so expensive plus they just didn't look good on this couch. I decided to watch craigslist for anyone who was selling a cheap, decent pair of couches. I probably checked for new listings about 15 times a day for every day for the last 3 months. Then, Monday night I decided to expand my search to the Tuscon area (which is about an hour and 15 minute drive). There was a much bigger selection, about 300 furniture listings a day, as opposed to our 20 listings in Sierra Vista. I checked the listing Monday night and didn't find much. Then, on Tuesday afternoon after checking the listings for the 4th time that day I saw a new listing for a sectional. I clicked the listings and beheld a picture of the very sectional that I had been dreaming about for 3 months! The title of the post was "Sectional Service -$300" I about flipped out. I called the guy 3 times only to get an answering machine, I also called Curtis and had him call as well. Curtis eventually talked to the guy and he informed Curtis that the sectional was only couple years old and in pretty good condition, it just had one tare at the very bottom of one of the recliners. Fortunatley, the next day was Curtis' day off so we borrowed a friend's truck and headed off to Tucson to check out the sectional.

When we got to the house there were a couple of other women looking at the sectional. I about screamed, there was no way that we were going to get this close only to lose out on buying the sectional by minutes. We informed the seller that we wanted to buy the sectional before the other ladies had made up their minds. The seller said "well that settles it". WOO HOO!!!! It took 2 trips to get the sectional back to our house, but it was totally worth it! Miracles happen!

The sectional doesn't fit in the house we are renting so we have the wedge off to the side. However, we are moving into our new house in a couple of months and I already have the perfect place for it!

Looking for ideas

My old roommate Arlena asked for my help coming up with ideas for wedding favors. She wants something personalized with their names, and it has to be cute! Has anyone seen any that they liked? Any ideas are welcome.

(Sorry if this was a disappointingly short post, but I promise, there will be more soon!)

Halloween Pictures

Here are the pictures from Nathans photo session today. I went to Sears and got a free Halloween Collage and a free 8 x 10, plus no session fee!! Woo woo!! I am so bad at picking which pictures I like best, because I usually just like whatever one I am looking at! So, I have 48 hours to change my mind and add or take away or switch any pictures that I ordered. I thought I would find out what the consensus was because I am so indecisive! All the pictures are numbered, so if you don't mind, please tell me your top 4 favorite pictures (because there are 4 in the collage). Order them from 1-4 please. Thanks a million! Enjoy!

Please vote

I bought this monkey costume for Nathan...but I am not sure if I like it or not. I am getting his pictures taken and need to pick a costume. Please let me know if you think it is cute or if I should keep looking. (Now I know that he is cute, but try to separate his natural cuteness from the possible cuteness of the costume)

I tried this tiger one, but it was too small and they didn't have it in a bigger size.

There is also the option of one of these onesies.

(Nathan had had enough wardrobe changes so these onesies never got modeled)

Please vote! Also, if you know of any cheap infant costumes let me know!

Cute stuff

Nathan loves typing away on the keyboard, so I let him sit on my lap at the computer. Apparently all that typing wore him out...

Too cute for words...you just have to watch (sorry for the many strange noises I make in this video)

What-a-deal

I think I am finally getting the hang of this couponing stuff. Yesterday I thought I scored some pretty good deals at Kmart and Walgreens. Below is a picture of my purchases.

It includes:
3 boxes of Special K Cereal
2 boxes of Special K Bars
2 boxes of Ziploc Double Zipper Freezer Bags
2 boxes of Ziploc Sandwich Bags
2 Glade Reed Diffusers
4 Secret Deodorants
1 Dove Deodorant
2 Speed Stick Deodorant
3 Boxes of Puffs Tissues
2 Bags of Halloween Candy
1 Box of Whoppers
2 Snickers Bars (not pictures...on account of I am a pig)
2 Tubes of Double Extend Mascara

The retail price of all of this purchase is 73.88 plus tax. I was able to spend only 21.81 plus a $5 off coupon for my next purchase. Each tube of mascara usually costs $11.49, so I like to think of it as buying 2 tubes of mascara and getting the other 26 items for free! Yay!
