Family Pictures

Fall 2011 Family Pictures

I love these pictures so much more than the studio ones!  My friend Ashley Elicio is so super talented, I don't think I can ever go back to Sears!  I left out my favorite because it is probably going on our Christmas card.  I need to leave SOME suspense for all 5 of you that read this!  Haha!

Welcome to the Terrible 2s!

Today Nathan had a friend over to play.  These two have lots of fun together, but they also get into lots of trouble!  The boys decided that they wanted to go up to Nathan's room to play while I made lunch.  I always lock all of the doors except for Nathan's and do my best to make sure that there is NOTHING that they can get into that they shouldn't.  I started lunch and ran upstairs to check on them, they were quietly sitting in Nathan's bed reading under the covers.  Too cute, right?  I ran back down stairs to work more on lunch, no joke, just a couple of minutes later we go upstairs to check on them and find Nathan and Brody both like this:

It took me quite awhile to realize where on Earth they found nail polish, then it dawned on me.  A few days earlier I had some nail polish in my hand when I went to let Nathan out of his room after his nap.  I had to change his diaper so I strategically placed the polish waaaaaaaay up on the top of his dresser, BEHIND the decorations that sit on top...no way for him to even SEE it, let alone GET TO IT. Of course it was so well hidden that I forgot it was there....ay ay ay.  It was all over my practically white carpet, all over Nathan's train table, dresser, walls, bedding, and clothes.  The boys had even managed to paint several trains all in the FEW minutes that they were left alone.  WOW.  I didn't take a picture of his room because I was too depressed about it, thinking that there was no way that the polish would come out of the carpet.  Fortunately with a few hours of work, some sol-u-mel, hair spray, rubbing alcohol and water we were able to get the polish off of everything except the boys' clothes.  Not much else I can say other than....wow

7 Months

Once again, I am over a month late with this post!  Better late than never...

My baby girl at 7 months old:

* She eats infant cereals and vegetables but always seems more interested in everything we are eating...poor girl
* She is almost sitting up on her own. She can do it if she is interested in reaching or playing with something that is in front of her, but once she gets ahold of the item of interest she falls right back down.
* She is starting to become more mobile.  She can find a way to get to almost anything she wants to with a mixture of rolling, scooting with her toes, and a bit of army crawling.
* She can hold the bottle by herself (hallelujah!)
* She babbles on and on and on and on and on and on
* She growls!!! No joke!  It's kind of a little scary...
*She is still getting cuter every day!

BFFs

Despite their occasional cat fights (like the one today at the mall...haha) these two absolutely love each other.  Every time we get in the car Nathan wants to go to Brenna's house.  She is always included in all of his prayers.  Anytime we are going anywhere fun like to play at the mall, or park, or mcdonalds, Nathan insists that Brenna comes too.  He often mentions her name several times when he starts rambling about who knows what.  She's his BFF, and I love it!

Swim Lessons

We signed Nathan up for swim lessons this past spring.  I had tried signing him up last year but didn't realize that the spots fill up within hours of registration opening.  We were better prepared this time around and Randi was able to sign Nathan and Brenna up for the same class.  Here they are on their first day:

The lessons were 5 days a week for two weeks.  Curtis had Mondays off and was able to be Nathan's pool partner on those days.
We lucked out and got to be in the warm pool most days!

The point of the youngster class is really to get the kids comfortable in the water. Nath learned how to kick his legs while being pulled around the pool,

and how to use his arms while being pushed.

He was not a big fan of floating on his back,

but he improved over time.

His above all favorite thing to do was to jump in the pool.  He got to the point where he would jump in and go all the way under before I would grab him. If he had it his way he would jump and jump and jump all class long.

This kid loves the water.  A little too much.  When the class was over he would throw the biggest, loudest, most embarrassing temper tantrums I have ever seen, all because he didn't want to get out of the pool.  After a few times of that I threatened to never come back and he seemed to understand.  I love knowing that he is having a good time and all, but that was just ridiculous.

And, as always, Kaylee was there sitting in the sidelines cheering him on.
